Citation & Documentation

Introduction

The Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association provides detailed guidelines for using APA style. The most recent (7th) edition of the APA Publication Manual is kept at the Research Assistance Desk, and copies are also available for use at the DSC Writing Center.

Documenting sources is an important aspect of writing common to all academic fields. Writers must have comprehensible, verifiable means of referring to one another's work. The references are formatted in a standard way so they can be quickly understood and used by all, like a common language.

For specific details and examples on citing sources within a paper and on creating a Reference page, mouse over the "APA Style" tab and choose the appropriate sub-page.

Both APA 6th and 7th editions are still available for your reference. Although we are committed to provide the most up-to-date information to both students and faculty, students please use the edition that is required by your instructors for your class assignments.
