Research Assistance

If a patron is unable to retrieve materials due to a sensory or physical disability, assistance is available at each location by appointment. A staff member will be assigned and usually can be expected to retrieve about 20 items from shelves or spend up to 30 minutes with a patron.

Computer Access

The DSC libraries and Academic Support Centers offer computer labs with voice output (JAWS) on all DSC campuses.  Other adaptive equipment includes closed circuit TVs, magic screen magnification software, OpenBook software, and tape recorders

DSC Counseling and Accessibility Services

Some of the services we provide include (all service availability determined on an individual basis):

  • Note takers
  • Readers
  • Certified sign language interpreters
  • Scribes
  • Private testing rooms
  • Adaptive computer lab
  • Tutor service (Through the Academic Support Center)
  • Access to course substitution procedure
