Honorlock Virtual Proctoring

About Honorlock

Honor Lock Protects Student Privacy article.

This guide will walk you through how Honorlock works, how to set it up, and what to expect during your test, including how to get help from Honorlock's 24/7 live chat. We’ve also included helpful links and support resources in case you have questions or run into any issues.

About Honorlock

If you're taking an online quiz for one of your college classes, your professor might use Honorlock. It’s a tool that helps make sure everyone is following the rules during exams—kind of like having a test monitor. (That’s what a proctor usually does: they watch over a test to make sure it’s fair.) With Honorlock at Daytona State, there’s no one watching you in real time during the exam. Instead, your test session is recorded, and your instructor can review it later if there are any concerns about academic honesty. This helps keep things fair for everyone and supports academic integrity—which means doing your own work and following the rules.

Best of luck in your exams!

Privacy

We also know privacy is important. Honorlock only records what’s needed during your exam and doesn’t access your personal files or data. Everything is kept secure and private. To ease student and faculty worries about how Honorlock collects and uses student data, we published several new resources.

On-Campus Support for Honorlock

Taking an Honorlock Exam On Campus

Office of Assessment Services

The primary resource for on-campus virtual proctoring is Office of Assessment Services. Each campus assessment services office offers one camera-equipped computer that can be used for Honorlock testing. Testing times will be limited to no more than 4 hours, so a test longer than that cannot be supported due to limited availability. Appointments are required,  so please contact Assessment Services at (386) 506-3067 to get started.

Library Study Rooms (Daytona Campus)

A secondary option is the Daytona Campus Library. While the library is not a formal assessment center, there are three group study rooms that can be booked by students and used for testing. Students must reserve a study room ahead of time by using the Book a Group Study Room link on the Library's website. There is a two-hour time limit on each reservation. If students need additional time, they must contact a librarian to arrange an extended reservation ahead of time and provide proof that the exam being taken exceeds two hours.
