Honorlock & Publisher Exams
Many faculty have become familiar with the virtual proctoring tool, Honorlock, for Falcon Online quizzes. Did you know Honorlock can also provide virtual proctoring for your publisher exams too? Many of the set-up steps are the same but there are a few key differences to keep in mind for both you and your students.
Faculty Tips
- Never give out the password to your exam(s).
- If a student is having trouble, a good place to start investigating is the Honorlock results for your exam. This can shed light on where in the process the student got stuck or if they were able to start at all.
- Consider watching a publisher-specific video tutorial to get an idea of what students will see and do throughout the process.
- Visit the Honorlock Privacy Resources website for faculty and student resources regarding virtual proctoring privacy concerns and best practices.
Student Pitfalls
- Students need to first launch the proctoring set up from the Honorlock tab.
- They may need to switch to Google Chrome and/or download the Honorlock extension.
- Most common: After Honorlock set-up (ID picture, room scan, etc.), students must switch browser tabs to return to the original exam page where the password box is for the "Insert Password" button to work properly.
- The Honorlock tab stays pinned during the exam in case the student needs to access the LiveChat or features you've allowed such as a calculator.
- Some students may have privacy concerns, so please consider sharing How Honorlock Protects Student Privacy or the Honorlock Privacy Statement.
All these tips and more can be found on the Honorlock with Publisher Exams page as part of the Virtual Proctoring InfoGuide, which includes text and video guides for students and faculty.
