As we announced during the Fall 2022 planning week, Daytona State College is offering our full-time and part-time faculty members the opportunity to engage in an evidence-based nationally recognized graduate-level teaching certification and the only college teaching credential endorsed by the American Council on Education (ACE). This teacher certification is comprised of four microcredentials (offered over the course of an academic year) to prepare faculty with evidence-based teaching practices proven to increase student achievement and close equity gaps. ACUE courses feature digital badging providing an easy way to document a commitment to instructional excellence. Badges can be added to your curriculum vitae, used in online teaching portfolios, and displayed on LinkedIn profiles or web pages as a sign of your achievement. During the course, faculty will think about their own course, attempt to implement new or expanded skills, and reflect on the effectiveness of those changes. ACUE estimates faculty will spend 2-3 hours per week on coursework.
If interested in enrolling in a future cohort, please use the blue enrollment button below. Our current cohort - Inspiring Inquiry and Preparing Lifelong Learners - started on September 12 and will conclude on October 23, 2022. We have 22 DSC faculty enrolled in the face-to-face teaching practices cohort and 32 DSC faculty enrolled in online teaching practices cohort. The next cohort available is Designing Learner-Centered and Equitable Courses, which will run from October 24 through December 11, 2022. To enroll in this next class, faculty must register by October 7th, 2022.
Just to clarify, all cohorts offered through ACUE are fully online and asynchronous. Most of these different micro-credentials are either focused on the face-to-face classroom or virtual learning environments. The four courses are: Promoting Active Learning; Creating an Inclusive and Supportive Learning Environment, Inspiring Inquiry and Preparing Lifelong Learning, and Designing Student-Centered Courses. Again, use the enrollment button above to enroll in upcoming cohorts beginning October 2022, January 2023, or March 2023.

In partnership with our Faculty Fellows in Teaching & Learning, Dr. Margie Hensler and Dr. Michael Mallott, will be hosting Snack & Share sessions at both the Daytona Beach and DeLand campuses. Join us for a discussion on what the fellows and other ACUE cohort faculty members have been learning in the current Inspiring Inquiry and Preparing Lifelong Learners micro-credential and teaching practices they've already applied. These Snack & Share sessions are open to all faculty either in person or via Teams. This program is connected to our Faculty Innovation Center (FIC) on the Go Schedule. If you're on the Daytona or DeLand campus these days and times, please join us, or use the Teams links below and join us virtually!
