Crystal Sonnenberg

New Administrative Specialist

My name is Crystal Sonnenberg and I am the new Academic Specialist in the FIC. I am very happy to be a part of the Daytona State College team! I enjoy, among other things, reading, gardening and getting my exercise. While I have a background in education, since my move to Florida, I have worked for the Volusia County Health Department and Brown and Brown. I am looking forward to getting to know my new role and becoming more familiar with the FIC and Daytona State College.

Awards for Excellence in Online & Hybrid Instruction certificate

Nominating faculty to receive an award for excellence in online and hybrid modalities has never been easier! Please take a few minutes and submit one or both of the Microsoft Form links below. All nominations are due Friday, December 17th, 2021.

Both awards will recognize an outstanding Daytona State College instructor who has utilized a well-designed course shell, capitalizing on the modality the course is taught within. This course should provide engaging and creative course materials for their learners and serve as a model of instructional excellence in either the hybrid or online modalities. Visit our Resources page on the Online Studies webpages to learn more about these awards and past recipients.

We're so grateful to our faculty and the amazing work they've accomplished these past couple of years despite many obstacles. Thank you for your service to our students, each other, and our college. As always, if you have any questions, please reach out to me.

Falcon Online Spring 2022 course shells are now available!

This is the time of the semester when we often get inquiries regarding the availability of the course shells for students and faculty. As a reminder, Falcon Online shells are generated 45 days prior to the start of the following semester. Instructors are enrolled during this period into their specific course shells. If a course shell is not visible, the department has not released it in the schedule for open enrollment or it may be a limited access course.

Student enrollment begins 30 days prior to the start of the semester, students can see their courses, but cannot access the course until the first day of the semester start date. All students can access their Falcon Online homepage Announcements, Office365 widget, and 24/7 Falcon Online technical support. If you wish to contact your students before classes begin, you can use the Falcon Online course shell to send an email to your classlist welcoming students and providing any housekeeping updates.

The Falcon Online enrollments are updated daily at 2:30am, 7:30am, 2:30pm, and 9:30pm. As always, if you have any questions, feel free to contact the Faculty Innovation Center at 386-506-3485 or FIC@daytonastate.edu.
