Dual Monitors In the FIC

The Division of Online Studies takes the Faculty Innovation Center satisfaction survey we send you after each visit very seriously. It's important for us to know how we're doing and what we can do to better serve you. In our survey we ask respondents to make suggestions on how to improve your experience at the FIC. Over the last six months or so, we've been getting feedback regarding the need for dual monitors. Here are a few of the comments:

"The progress being made to get to the new FIC is great! I hope you will be able to use some of the computers from 204 to set up double screen stations."

"I would love a double screen station."

"Access to a second screen. It would increase speed of grading not having to toggle."

We want you to know that we heard you and with the help of IT, we now have five dual screen stations with 18" monitors. We've had nothing but positive feedback from faculty who have gotten a chance to test them out. So, come by the Faculty Innovation Center and see for yourself!

Please note, we always ask first before taking pictures in the FIC. These faculty knew the Online Studies paparazzi were behind them. (^_^)

Interested In Virtual Proctoring For Fall 2019? Let Cheryl Know!

The Excellence in Curriculum and Instruction Through Technology Enhancement committee (EXCITE), comprised of faculty, staff, and administrators, worked on several initiatives this past year, including selecting from virtual proctoring services to conduct a pilot for the Fall 2019 semester. I'm excited to announce that we've selected Respondus Monitor and Honorlock.

If you are interested in participating using virtual proctoring software in your Fall 2019 classes, please let your academic department chairperson know and email me (cheryl.kohen@daytonastate.edu) to express your interest. We're still accepting volunteers and would love to get a wide variety of faculty in order to really test out the effectiveness of these different tools.

Respondus Monitor Resources

Respondus is already set up as an integration within Falcon Online so all we need is to turn on the Monitor piece. Respondus Monitor builds upon the power of LockDown Browser® and uses a student's webcam and industry-leading video analytics to prevent cheating during non-proctored exams. Visit the Respondus Monitor web site to learn more.

Honorlock Resources

Honorlock commenced business on May 1, 2015 as a startup venture in Florida Atlantic University's Tech Runway program and has been used by customers since July 11, 2015. Honorlock can be as deeply integrated as Respondus within Falcon Online. It has a few additional features unavailable in Respondus such as live proctoring, pop-in proctoring, search and destroy, and live review, as seen in the videos and the following pages. NOTE: Currently Honorlock requires using the Chrome web browser as many of the capabilities are implemented via a Chrome extension. Extensions for other browsers are in development. Visit the Honorlock web site to learn more.
