Coming March 29th, instructors will have the ability to annotate assignment submissions on the screen within Falcon Online. These annotations are saved as part of the feedback to the student. The capabilities are much like those within the Turnitin Feedback Studio.

View the video (~ 9 min.) below to see how this new tool will work. You can see this tool in action on the Falcon Online test site and it will be available in your live courses on March 29.

NOTE: D2L does not recommend annotations for use with assistive technology such as screen readers. If you have students using assistive technologies, you will need to provide feedback in an alternate format for those students.

I encourage you to subscribe to this blog to receive notifications of future posts. Let us know in the comments what you think of this new tool.

Online Studies Welcomes Our Newest Instructional Designer!

Hello all! My name is Jasmine Checchi, and I am the new Instructional Designer/Coordinator I for the Division of Online Studies. What this means for you is the FIC just got another Aaron! But seriously, I'm here to provide additional assistance and perspectives to the Division of Online Studies. I've been going through the new training series to ensure I can provide effective support while you make your way through it.

Just in case some of you have to squint your eyes and wonder if you're having a déjà vu moment, I used to be the Administrative Specialist for Online Studies back in 2016, so I may have met a few of you during my time in the FIC. I passed the torch to the wonderful Pam while I helped out in Institutional Research, but when the opportunity to return as a Junior Instructional Designer appeared…I couldn't pass it up!

I'm thrilled to rejoin the FIC family and can't wait to meet you during your next visit!

As always, we are here to answer any of your questions, and please subscribe to the blog to keep up to date on the latest goings-on at the FIC. Or visit us between 8AM - 5PM M - F.

welcome to the faculty innovation center banner

Relocating the Faculty Innovation Center

The big move to the L. Gale Lemerand Student Center is upon us. There has been a lot of activity and excitement over the last few weeks as departments get ready to relocate. Over Spring Break, the library will be moved from their current location in building 210 to the new student center. As you know, the Faculty Innovation Center, though technically in building 200, can only be accessed through the library. The FIC will eventually be moving to the former Writing Center; however, immediately following Spring Break, we will still be in the same location we are now – Building 200, Room 206F.

So, if the library is closed, how will you get to us?

You will be able to access the FIC, but only through the outside entrance of the former Writing Center where the manatee fountain is located. All other entrances to the building will be locked. We know these are big changes happening around campus, but we will do our best to keep you updated on how these changes affect the FIC.

On behalf of the Faculty Innovation Center, have a safe and relaxing Spring Break!
