We’re so thankful for those who joined us in the room where it happened on October 17th for our first Snack & Share. Our session focused on providing useful feedback to students.
- Dr. Holmes shared valuable insight about her experience with feedback. She also shared a book, Winning at Math, which offers math-specific study skills and insights for those who deal with math anxiety.
- Cristi and I shared some feedback we received from our students surveyed regarding feedback. Check out the feedback document to see what DSC students had to say about instructor feedback.
One of the most powerful statements from the students surveyed stated simply:
We’re scared.
What a powerful reminder of how impactful our feedback is to students. Emojis could be a great way to soften the tone or more adequately convey the intent of feedback. Did you know that you can use emojis in D2L while giving feedback? Here are keyboard shortcuts for obtaining the emoji tool.🫸
- Keyboard shortcut for Windows:
Windows key + . (period)opens the emoji selector. - Keyboard shortcut for Mac:
Control + Command + Space baror thefn key/Globe 🌐 key.
