In the year 2000, the library underwent a major renovation. It was at this time that we were joined by several new roommates, the Academic Support Center and the Computer Commons. We managed to stay open during this renovation even though it meant we had to wear hard hats when we went down to the stacks to fetch books for students! When the renovation was complete, we held a rededication ceremony which was attended by Mary Karl's grandson.
Since then we have continued to add new services to the building including the DSC-UCF Writing Center and even a coffee shop! Our latest addition is the Faculty Innovation Center where faculty can get expert help on improving their teaching both face-to-face and online. This building has served the college well for 50+ years, but the time has finally come to move to a new home. In Spring 2019, the library, the Academic Support Center, and the DSC-UCF College Writing Center will be moving to the third floor of the new L. Gale Lemerand Student Center currently under construction. The new library space will still be called the Mary Karl Memorial Learning Resources Center. We are excited about our upcoming move, but we will miss the building that has been our home for so long.
