Did you ever wish you could go back in time and really experience what life was like in the past?  Well, the library can't physically transport you back in time (yet), but we have the next best thing - resources that can send your mind on a trip through time.  One of the most interesting ones is the New York Times Historical database.

This database is a collection of every issue of the New York Times Newspaper since 1851!  You can read about the assassination of President Lincoln the day after it happened or discover that the West Coast was preparing for a Japanese invasion in the days after Pearl Harbor was attacked.  This archive is made up of actual scans of the newspaper so you will see the original text, pictures, maps, even advertisements.  You will get a much different perspective on history reading about it as it is unfolding, reported by people who were there and lived it.
